I remember my freshman year I was very interested in joining a sorority. Chico State isn't exactly a huge school and since I came from a very small town, I wasn't used to being in a place and not knowing a single soul (my hometown had only one stop light at the time). After long talks with my mom, I decided to wait to go through rush until my second year because I wanted to make sure it was something I really wanted to do. So I waited a year. I made great friends in my dorms whom also wanted to rush but decided like me, to wait and we had a great bond and were just as close as sisters.

That next fall, three out of the four of us went through rush and had completly different experiences. We all went to three different houses, Alpha Phi, Gamma Phi Beta and ADPI. It's funny looking back because we all knew that ADPI wanted all of us and same goes for the other sororities, but our hearts felt something different. But as the Rho Chis told us "you will end up where you are meant to go".

We are all still very close but we were able to branch out and meet new people whom we could share a different bond. I actually ended up where I had wanted to go since I had started at Chico. One of the first girls I met at Chico State rushed our first year and went ADPI. When I became an alpha, she was my diamond. So eventhough I tried something new, I ended up at a place that felt so familiar and where I was meant to go from the beginning.
