My old roommate had an African Grey, Zuri (Swahili for "Beautiful") and she was ANAL about him. Although I don't blame her too much caz the thing cost like $1500. There was times that she didn't buy much food because she spent all her money on his payments. (I didn't live there at the time, luckily) But I guess it was a half-way decent investment for her because she absolutly loves him and he'll probably end up out-living her.
I just had to get rid of my cocatiel when I moved here to Charlotte. I ended up giving it to a retirement home, so at least he went to a good cause.
