How long had he been living at the house? Or was he living in another house near the DKE house?
As of yet the DKE's haven't said anything, which is of course the right action in this case, and the alumni I know either won't say anything... or as most have said they don't know either because they haven't been told anything either...

In the past there has been some "questionable" characters that are brothers at this chapter, but the main problem hasn't come from brothers, but from friends... I do know that there have been a number of investigations and allegations made in the past six of so years, but in all cases no charges have been laid. I'd be very interested to know the identity of the attacker, and what his conections to the chapter are....

But yes it is pretty common practice at UofT to rent rooms out to boarders over the summer, and it's about the only thing that UofT gets involved in... most of these boarders are summer exchange students, and are sent by Housing Services at UofT.

As for legal issues... it can be exceedingly convulted:
1) The chapter might be held responsible if the history of the attacker was known to the chapter... as for whether the actives or housing board is ultimately responsible.....
2) The Housing manager (or whomever handles room rental) might be the one responsible if the attacker's past actions was know to him.
3) The Attacker could be solely responsible as he was an individual, and not the responsibilty of the chapter or it's members... as no action was taken against them.
