When I had money, I was an animal,'' Tyson said.
"I was so belligerent, I was so cantankerous, so persistently disregardless. I wasn't that nice of a person. Just because you buy mansions and cars doesn't mean you know what money is worth.
"I lost all across the board,'' he added. "My life has been a total waste.''
In November, Tyson claimed in his bankruptcy papers to be earning just a few dollars in monthly income.
Tyson's boisterous entourage, in turn, has disappeared.
"When the band stops playin','' Tyson said, "the people stop dancin'.''
According to Tyson's financial filings, he spent $1.1 million in gifts since 1998 on people whose names he could not recall, including $82,000 in fur coats.
"I was pretty reckless with the people I trusted in my life,'' Tyson said. "I'm just trying to manage my life properly. That's something I've never done before.''
