That's great that you help out on your own. I do too. I also travel the world. I am in a sorority too, but I don't go on to websites for things that I don't agree with and decide to speak down to people because they have chosen to align themselves with those things.
I don't think every greek I have met is loud, annoying, stuck up and judge others by their appearances, but then again some have.....but so does the general populous, that is not just a "greek" trait. I've met plenty of fake non-greeks. I too also value friendships with people I like...that is kind of the idea behind making friends, isn't it?
Charity work is no reason to join a sorority, it's just one of the things that we do. I think that your research has not be very thorough and that it would be wise for you to look around with your eyes open and without the stereotypical blinders on as well.
