I'm not even gonna touch the "white sorority" comment.
Do let your mom know though. She may suprise you. My mother is a very dedicated Delta and I thought she'd be upset that I decided to COB. She was very excited that I decided to do my own thing and supports me 100%. She even attended our 106th Founders Day/Parent's Day Celebration. Heck, we even exchange sailboat/elephant gifts.
If you'd change your thinking from a strictly race issue, this would probably be alot easier. I never thought of it as a white/black issue, just me finding my greek home. Heck, they could've been purple and orange for all I cared
