One idea that the chapter I advise used for their spring recruitment workshop this past spring was to videotape a member giving a house tour, showing different ways of doing "bumps", recruitment posture all the basic little things like that.
When I was active and going through work week we always tried to do fun things like the putting your name on a sheet of paper and putting it on your back and everyone goes around and writes nice things about you. Sounds cheesy but it's amazing the awesome stuff people will say about you. I still have both of mine that we did. Other years, we go to the dollar movie theatre in town to get out of the facility for a night.
We've also done ice breakers like the game where everyone but one person is seated and she says something about her like, "My favorite soap opera is 'Days of Our Lives.'" Then everyone else who has that in common with her has to get up and run to a different seat. And then the next person left standing says something about her and it goes on and on...
We also did contests - where if we met a certain goal for something - like getting everything done as far as house clean-up, etc early we got rewarded. For example...the VP that oversaw recruitment my sophomore year was a bit of a nazi so we got to throw pies in her face (and the rest of recruitment exec). Then we had a huge water balloon fight.
