But what if they come from a culture where they really aren't supposed to work? I know that girls from these cultures aren't making up the bulk of unwed teen moms, but they do have kids fairly early. In my M.Ed program, I have heard classmates, who are "real teachers" talk about parents who expect their daughters to marry straight after they graduate high school. They expect their sons to go into Engineering (or some other sciency/techy field) and their girls to be wives. In many cultures, parents have the ultimate control on their kids, girls and boys (I feel sorry for the guys too. They don't have much choice as to what they can study in university)
