How much is enough?
I ask because UMass Amherst had to give back its NCAA banner when Marcus Camby admitted to taking jewelry and cars from the UMass staff. The colleges routinely cross the line to woo new talent. So I really can't sympathize with the poor ball player because I haven't seen any.
True, a good team gives the college revenue and exposure. But the colleges also put millions into scholarships, coaches, athletic centers, tutors, trainers, uniforms, etc.
Although, not everyone goes on to make the big bucks, I can't say that in my 3 years in college that I have ever met a student-athlete who didn't have a place to go if they needed cash. Even the rugby players got money-and they aren't even NCAA sanctioned!
Pay me! I contribute to the high GPA of my college. Can I get a witness?
