I have been a "strict" vegetarian for over 8 years. The loss of protein from my diet caused me great suffering until I was on vitamin supplementation. I still have some dairy every not and then. But I do not eat fish. Only milk products and eggs. However, I get a funny look by folks insenstive to my eating needs... As if they haven't a clue as to what I eat...

This low carb craze: research is unclear as to what it truly does to folks bodies long term. If the changes in high fat and cholesterol are extremely damaging in the presence of absence of obesity. And there is a diabetic compenent mixed in with a cancer component.... Low carb diets helps folks lose weight. But that may affect folks baseline blood glucose and lipid levels which are not good for some people. Especially hypertensives and folks with heart problems...
Before it was the Atkins diet it was the ketogenic diet and use for a long time. I honestly feel that most of the people that mock the diet are overweight. And by mocking I'm not saying they're unsure about it; I'm saying they will tell you it won't work, it's so unhealthy, blah blah blah while they sit there with their 40 inch wastes downing food like none other.
