Not, that without him I lose my connection to God, but that his presence not only does not defile it or soil it, but it seems to testify to it and be a direct result of it.
I am in love when I think of that person and know that I truly want to love him/accept him/nurture him/support him as God does me (welll as best I can). This doesn't mean I'm superhuman or un-selfish it just means the focus has completely shifted from how he makes me feel, to how I can make him feel- just because his presence in my life is that God-ordained.
I am sure I could explained that more eloquently, and perhaps at some point I'll edit, but I hope the point is there.
God is love. I'm in love when I know our interaction is of God- with him is where God wants me to be at that point in my life- its so pure it could only be a gift from God.

After while, loving another person and staying in love with another person becomes a choice. I choose everyday to love my husband, sometime because of something he did 5 years ago. But it is a choice.
If you choose to "move on", because you're not feeling the initial infatuation, you'll never have a long term relationship...let alone a successful marriage.

So true. Sometimes you love "because of" and other days "in spite of". There is a bit in a Steven Covey book where he talks about a man who comes up to him and wants to know how he can fall "in love" with his wife again. Covey's response was "love her" After the guy didn't get it he explained that love was an ACTION verb, and was more about what you do than what you feel.
