I had a 1992 Mazda Protege DX handed down from my dad when I got my permit. I got it with well over 100,000 miles on it and learned to drive (and drive stick!) on it. We replaced the clutch at around 150,000 and I drove it for two years. She was most often referred to as Mufsy or little red car.
When I graduated high school, I bought myself a 1999 Mazda Protege LX, still red, still a 5-speed. I'm going to have this car forever! I call him McMada but most of my friends call him little red car number 2.
