I think you only know at the end of your life. Hindsight is a bitch and Irony rules the universe.
There are a lot of shoulds and woulds wrapped up in the "one" concept. I think a lot of people end their lives realizing it wasn't the one. At best maybe they married someone they would have been better off as friends with.
