Used to have my FAC (Fire Arms Certificate) up here in Canada and a FN-FAL rebarelled to fire .22 single shot (target practice)... but I let it slip after I left the military, and I donated my rifle to a cadet corp near my cottage when I moved back to the city.
I really don't see a need to own a weapon here in the city (plus no real ranges to use it on)... however UofT still has a range for .22 short rimfires in the basement of Hart House (sort of a student centre) for the Rifle & Pistol club - but you have to use the equipment at the range, no personal firearms.... their was a "problem" a couple of years ago with a grad student (a wee bit to gun happy).
