I can relate to your story. I remember when I tried out for my high school booster team...I was so nervous...at first I KNEW I MADE IT....that's because I had a lot of confidence in my performance. Then I had doubts because I didn't think I really "looked" the part. But.....I MADE IT! I guess I fit in after all.
