We did a Royal Carribean cruise in January and really enjoyed it. Most of the actual cruising was done overnight, so you spent all day in the various ports of call.
Our state room was small, but nice, the food was good (and VERY plentyfull) and the evening entertainment was great.
We pulled out of Nassau at midnight with a huge party with band, DJ, tons of food/drink etc. on the pool deck. Very neat.
You should know, though, that with any organized trip (by bus, ship, whatever) that the little side trips is where you spend your money.
