Hi Bunny,

Yes, some people do indeed shape their opinions of an entire group of people based upon their own limited experiences with a few. Men traditionally seem to carry this "baggage" even more easily than women (I can't trust any women because when I was 8, 16, 24, my first love used me and broke my heart) do.

While I may find the line of thinking exhibited by these folks rather shortsighted, only they are missing out of the possibility of a good mate based upon their own hang-ups. He simply may not be attracted to black women, and once again, while limiting, how can he be ultimately be faulted for that?

I used to be more concerned about this when I was younger, but I've since realized that it is difficult to change people's perceptions when they don't want to change them. The best I can offer is a prime example of a giving, successful (yet humble--right), fun-loving, spiritual black woman through my actions, and all can appreciate that...come forth! Those that can't... just miss out.

Good luck with your friend.
shela.
