This is not a new trend at all. I remember the whole lesbian-until-graduation thing going on when I was in college in the early 90s. Yes, you see more of girl-on-girl kissing and stuff on TV now these days (witness the last few seasons of The Real World, for example), but that's because what can go on TV has changed. When I was back in college, when Roseanne kissed Mariel Hemingway on an episode Roseanne, it made news. Now it's almost seen as no big deal.
