I think people are generally more likely to disregard information if they do not like the source.
Using GC as an example, I've been known to over look certain posters because I don't like them. But it's not so much that I don't think they are credible, but rather because I have no interest in what they have to say.
Kind of like, "I don't like you...so don't talk to me because I won't listen".
And I have definitly done that in real life. It happens. People tend to avoid those they don't like, so it could eman not reading a post or ignoring a speaker.
