I met this guy freshman year at a party, and he looked me up in the directory and came to my room to say hi, even though he was an upperclassman and didn't live in the dorms. I'd draw the line at that kind of thing. If he had just called me, I would have thought it was cute -- he would have gotten a date.
Anyway, no harm in trying, as long as you don't take it too far. (No Say Anything-style boomboxes under her window until you've been dating at least two months, m'kay?)
