Why am I voting for Kerry?

#1) Because I agree with his stance on almost all of the issues that are important to ME. (healthcare, education, the environment/energy, civil rights, etc.)

#2) Because all of the Presidents we have had since I have been politically aware (since Ford) have been Governors. I think that being a Governor gives you some strengths but I am very interested in seeing how someone who has been in Washington for a long time does things differently. Running a state is different than running a country. I think that a member of Congress has a better understanding of the country as a whole, rather than their own region. I think they also have a better understanding of foreign affairs (although Jimmy Carter learned a lot while President and continues to be a great foreign diplomat).

#3) Because the Supreme Court is already leaning to the right. One or more of them are probably going to have to be replaced in the near future and I worry about it being too conservative. I would rather see the 5-4 split lean to the left, because I'm liberal myself.

#4) He voted for the Equal Rights Amendment.
