Wink pretty good thread

This thread, started out as "Asian-American Greeks," turned out
to be a REAL fraternal site, and responses fun to read, not full of
rancor.
You guys should realize tho, in all fairness to us old coots, that in
the 40s and 50s, there were very few so-called minorities even in
college. The GI Bill helped change this. In my pledge class of 30,
I was pres., we initiated 29 that semester....we had a 6'7" marine
a 28 year old WWII vet, a German exchange student, two or
three easterners (there was a great shortage of eastern schools
back then...who would not let these guys in ). We spoke on our
pay phone English, Italian, Greek, German, Hawaiian, Polish and
perhaps some other. We were proud of our mix, but we were a
principally-white caucasian body. Our chapter was heavily criticized for the New Yorkers, New Jersey guys...they brought to
Kansas two things: white buck shoes and shoplifting..., finally, theHawaiians ("gooks") But we had the best grades , the best
parties and drank the best whiskey. What I would not give to
move back in that ole 55-man mansion...in Emporia, Kansas.
Anyhow, this thread is certainly one of the best, warm, and as it
should be, full of fraternity.
