You may not have made contact wiht members of the chapter but it is expected usually that folks will do research on the orgs and pursue the one that fits them best. However, there usually are some sort of meet the Greeks events depending on the campus. At my undergrad university, they had a NPHC week that was geared mostly at freshman so they had the year to learn about the orgs before they were able to apply to the org of their choice.
