No question, Michelle, that hurtful stereotypes can run rampant, but in my experience (for what it is worth), those stereotypes are perpetuated and turned into "fact" by rumors and snide comments ("Well, you know everyone thinks that the ABCs are losers..."), not by banners and vandalism. Again, in my experience, anyone who looks at "Tri-Pigs" spray-painted on the wall of a college building and thinks, "gee they must be as bad as everyone says they are" has already bought into the stereotype unquestioningly.

And as far as rush goes, is any GLO really looking for candidates who are so dim-witted that they would look at the junior high antics of these losers and take it for truth? Better off without them.

I stand by what I said earlier -- CCUSigma123 and her sisters have every right to be offended and hurt, and they are certainly owed an apology. But they should not respond as though they have to defend themselves or prove the vandals wrong (or even prove the vandals stupid -- those losers are doing that quite well enough on their own.) They should hold their heads high, confident and proud, and demonstrate that they -- unlike the losers trying to defame them -- are a class act.
