The problem with going off of what this one person said is that you are using her opinion only. I've been an advisor at USC for the past 8 years (and I also attended grad school there) and I can tell you that a lot of people would say something totally different.
You should not limit yourself based on anyone's opinion when you go through rush. Meet the guys to the best of your ability and make a decision based on the people who you get to know and your own experiences.
