I think it does vary from state to state... I'm in Florida (not too far from Alabama) and like I said the Alpha's use that call 99.9% of the time.
Terminology varies also... I remember the first time I heard a member of a BGLO from up north say they wanted to give a
shout out to their "Ship" or something like that...
When I asked and it was broken down to me... they were basically saying the same thing as a
shout out to their "Sands"
I know that when BGLOs go to regional and sectional conferences that they sometimes share chants/strolls/calls with their neighboring frat/sorority members... but it is always out of unity.
