In the Roman Empire, you named daughters by the feminime form of the family name (surname) and after the first daughter, by number. Octavia then, is the eighth daughter.

Cornelia Sextia would be the daughter of the Cornelius family and the sixth daughter. However, most girls would go by their middle names, since all the daughters would have the first name Cornelia.
