I say 'gay' all the time, 'cept I write it "ghey". Obivously I know what it sounds like, but too bad...I use the word gay as in, "They were dancing gaily around....or Everyone is happy and gay." That conjures up an image of really cheesy nerdy stuff.....which is my intention and why I write "ghey" instead of 'gay'. And actually, if you think about it, I think that might be what a lot of people mean by it.....seriously now, how can something act like a homosexual? If I say that someone's joke is gay, I don' tmean it's somehting a gay person would say, I mean it's cheesy or horrible.
I know what I mean, I don't need to explain myself, but I hope you all can see where I'm coming from.

Okay, I'm not really going to get into this, but . . .
People forget that "gay" and "retarded" are not the only words that have been corrupted like this. "Dumb" originally meant "mute," but now people use it regularly to mean "unintelligent." "Imbecile," "moron," etc. were originally technical terms referring to different levels of mental retardation. How many people use them that way today?
I'm sure there are a million more examples.
Do I think it's a good thing that people use "gay"/"retarded"/"ghetto" to mean "bad"/"stupid"? Not really -- but given the way language evolves it's pretty much inevitable.
