Three years ago I was a millionaire (on paper) and would have been a lot more than that at retirement. Now, I'm about half that, and a lot closer to retirement.

My inlaws made a pretty fair amount of money when they sold their farm, used a very good professional financial planner, and did well living off of the interest from investments and other things.

When the "recession" hit, they had to start digging into the principle.

And, just out of frustration, I really am steamed that I've been paying into a system for 40 years, from which the government said I would get certain benefits -- and then potentially get nothing.
