let us keep in mind the real clincher about minority status:
minority status can apply to numbers-- this is true... but minority status has a lot more to do with the POWER a group wields in a given society... simply put, if there are 10 billion of a given group, but they are systematically disenfranchised politically, socially, and economically by another group that is far smaller in number, guess what? that group of 10 billion is A MINORITY, period, the end.
if minority status was just about numbers, women wouldn't be considered a minority group in half the countries on the earth... a prime example: look back at apartheid south africa-- black south africans were by far dominating the numbers, but who had the power? aha! who was the "minority group"?
