Perhaps it is just my ignorance of indepth sorority workings, but I feel the reason is largely inpart to the actual "pledgeship". Sororities have neither the length of pledgeship nor the hazing. Thus, it is (to an extent) easier to join a sorority.
Please do not flame me, I could be completely wrong because, as I stated above, I lack any hard knowledge of inner sorority structure.
