We dont have early alum status; you become alum when you gradutate. Period. And you can only participate in alum chapters once you've paid your life membership.

HOwever, we have 3 types of membership in the college chapter:

1)Active. You pay dues and participate in weekly meetings and other mandatory events.

2)Marginal. This means you're only required to attend formal meetings (once a month) and rituals; everything else is optional. You still pay dues. This is meant to be for one semester only but can be granted for longer. This is usually granted when a sister has too many things going on academically or personally.

3)Inactive. You don't pay dues and aren't required to attend anything. Granted when there's a financial hardship or another hardship.

Perhaps your sorority (since it is a local) could try having a Marginal membership. Would that help?
