De6, you're "Deirdre" right? If so, I don't know why people are leaving off that "r" before the "d." I am "Deidra" and so I don't mind being called Dee dra or Dee i dra, both are proper pronounciations of my name b/c the former pronounciation leaves the "i" as silent and the latter acknowledges the "i." I hear your point, however, b/c if I clearly had an "r" before my "d," I'd want you to pronounce that. Kinda hard to have a silent "r."
