My prayers are withyou as well. One bible that may help you is The Life Application Bible published by Tyndale.
It looks huge
but the majoity of it is footnotes that explain how each verse applies to your life. It also includes a "read the bible in a year" guide as well.
I haven't read the enitre bible in one year, but I know you can do it!
