Jacksonville doesn't really have any distinctive food. I think the closest would be a local BBQ place that's been around since the 40s, so I'm going to talk about one of my favorite places to eat when I visit Athens or Atlanta...

The Varsity

It's greasy, but oh so good. They have so many different things on their menu that there is something for everyone. I can't find any pictures of their food, but you can learn a lot about The Varsity on their website.

Everything is made fresh when you order, which I think is one of the best things about it. They have the best onion rings according to my friends and family, if you are into that sort of thing. They also have really good fried peach pies and a special drink called "The Frosted Orange."
