When I was 12, I "baby-sat" (meaning that the parents were at home, but hosting a dinner party, and therefore too busy to look after them) a four year old and a five year old who were really wild and running around the house. They weren't really supposed to be near the adults at all, and it was my job to keep them away. I tried everything, from telling them stories, to popping in a video, but it wasn't any help. Luckily, I had an art set with me, and was able to settle them down by getting them to colour and describe their works of art to me
The adults were able to have a good evening!!!
