in my chapter, the seniors choose the sweetheart every year. there is only one rule: it CANNOT be a brother's girlfriend. I don't know how other chapters do it. SJSU is a relatively new chapter so I don't really know (we've chosen ours like this for about 50 years...)
Good luck! And even if you don't wind up being the girl in the composite, it seems you are already a Beta sweetheart so don't worry about it!
