I've just started going to the gym recently to tone up and lose weight. I've been doing about 30 mins of cardio and then lifting, alternating legs and arms/chest every other day. I use the nautilus machines most of the time...how many reps and sets should I be doing?
Right now I do 3 sets of 10 reps on each of the machines I use, and then if I don't feel like going home I'll do 2 or 3 more sets. Is this cool or should I be doing more reps or what?

I had a trainer when I first joined the gym. (The training came with everything basically...)
He had me start with 3 sets of 15... and then as I got stronger, he bumped me up to 4 sets. And then added weight after.
