I would try using your old screen name again. I checked out your profile and it doesn't look like you've been banned. If you can't get it working, you could try PM'ing John, but it looks like he hasn't been around in ages, which is perhaps why everyone on GC is running wild -- kinda like leaving a 2nd grade classroom unattended!
