For the semester-and-a-half that I lived in a triple, I had the top bunk. We had a bunk bed and a single bed, and the princesses
I roomed with
had to have the single bed and the bottom bunk. Luckily I landed a single mid-spring-semester.
I haven't seen dorms with triple-decker bunks, but I have seen fraternity houses with that arrangement. I've also seen "bunk" beds where the bottom "bunk" is a desk and the top is the bed... one wild night and your lecture notes are all over the floor.
