Ohh sweetheart those are just the ghettos! I'm taking Urban Geography and History of Detroit right now. Seriously, one side of 8 Mile is really nice, the other side is run down homes. Quoted by my African American professor, and 2 of my white professors "If you are white you better not go to the other side of 8 Mile". It's perfectly safe to just drive down 8 Mile.

Parts of Downtown Detroit can be pretty scary, but it's kind of a smaller area that is unsafe. Alot of metro Detroit areas are super nice. But believe me, I get "crap your pants scared" in parts. Like when a certain Pike accidentally gave me the wrong directions to the Pike house, which is located on Cass Quarters, which is like the most dangerous part of downtown Detroit. Yes, saw a hooker walking down the street. But don't be scurred of Detroit, it's actually pretty nice here!

I'm scared of anywhere with a ghost town. We exitted one on our way to leadership conference when we got lost, and seriously this place was dead and scary. We got the hell outa there!

Oh I think I'd be afraid of Cali too, after seeing Earthquake movies.
