I need help.

I move in two weeks to my own apartment. I need to get my hands on a dinning room table set that isn't going to cost me a month's rent. I also need a coffee table.

I have tried Target, Walmart, K-mart, a couple classified ads and I am not having much luck. And the weather here sucks so people aren't really having garage sales. My question is are there any other places/online stores I can try? I still have to try the thrift store circuit but any other ideas will help.

Also... my roommate gave me the idea of spray painting furniture. Since I am going for a modern look in my living room with black furniture, i need to paint my current pieces (end tables, bookshelf). I see it all the time on Trading Spaces but I am never sure if it's a good idea. Anyone ever try it?
