I have always liked the idea of Texas, but have only been to Houston and Austin... (which are awesome)
I might have to go see both.

Hidalgo's about a half-white, half-Lakota horseman from South Dakota who competes in a horse race across the sahara i think. It says it's based on a true story, and while the main character was indeed a real person, whether or not the race actually ocurred is up in the air.

If you've never been to San Antonio you really need to go. See the Alamo and the missions. Try to get down for Fiesta in the spring. Also, if you can make it over towards Washington-on-the-Brazos near Brenham, Texas, you can see where i believe the Texas Declaration of Independence was signed and get more of the story.

According to IMDB.com, the movie will be released April 9th. the actual seige of the Alamo began on March 6th. April 21st is San Jacinto day, the day the Texan army defeated Santa Ana and Sam Houston spared his life.

April 21st is also special for Aggies, as its Muster.
