i'm not religious at all. i went to see it thursday with my boyfriend, who had to explain so much to me because mel gibson didn't give any background in the movie. so basically, if you didn't already know the specifics of the story, you wouldn't know exactly who everyone was.
i thought it was extremely well done. i even loved that it was in latin and aramaic with subtitles, even though i thought i would hate that. it was very powerful.
i can't see how the movie is supposed to cause anti-semitic feelings. yes, i found myself getting angry with the jewish leaders and pilate, but not at jews or romans as a whole. that's just silly.
that was one of the most well-done movies i have ever seen.
but i have one major issue---they should not allow 4 and 5 year old children into an R movie, especially at 9:30pm on a school night! what irresponsible parents! they can't even read what is happening. get a freaking babysitter! and if you want your young child to see this especially graphic movie, go on a saturday afternoon when the kid doesn't have school the next day! those kids will be having nightmares for weeks
