A show I would like to be on is Supermarket Sweep. I don't know if it is still in production, but I liked it (I used to work in a grocery store). And I swear the Price is Right picks the dumbest people. I wonder if they had to take a pre-test and those who failed are chosen as contestants. Sorry, just venting after watching yesterday's episode.

The last I heard, Supermarket Sweep ended it's run on Lifetime in 1996 and is now airing on a network called PAX. However, I do not know if these are first run episodes or reruns of the shows on Lifetime. I'll get back to you on that.
As for Price is Right:
The way they select people is that while would-be contestants wait in line to enter the studio, a contestant coordinator and some aides interview people in the crowd. For those who have the right energy (happy, smiling, genuine excitement, etc.), the coordinator says a code word or phrase to one of his aides, who writes down the contestant's name. Six names and three alternates are typed out and placed on Rod Roddy's podium before the show.
Hope this helps.
