AXiD670 - If you ever head up to Ohio, I know it's common there. The girls from chapters in Ohio are the ones I always hear saying it.
I always thought it was because teddy bears are fuzzy...or like you said, alpha-xi , I don't know. Or fuzzy = fu-xi.

xo_kathy, our mascot is BetXi Bear. She was the one designed by Jim Henson for his wife. According to our nat'l website, "the Fraternity adopted Al Fuzzie teddy bear as a mascot in 1974. BetXi Bear mascot was adopted in 1989." But we've never had just a Fuzzie Bear. But you were close!!! I really don't know too much else about Al Fuzzie, what he looked like, etc. Just that there was one.

Maybe that's where Fuzzie came from. Either way...I don't like it. It's fine for the bear's name...but PLEASE don't refer to me as a fuzzie.
