When you say 'involved' do you mean as an advisor? If so, there will probably be no way you can avoid this person.
However, if you were involved via the alumnae chapter, say as the Alumnae/Collegian Liason, you would only really deal with your counterpart on the collegian side, the Alumnae Relations Chair.
