BGLOs are
not the only orgs with honorary members. My GLO, which is also professional (Phi Beta) has many honary members.. as BFulton mentioned.. they are extended this membership because they exemply ideals of our fraternity. To give you an example:
Phi Beta is an arts fraternity. We have a cottage at and support the MacDowell Colony. Leonard Bernstein stayed in our cottage there, and happened to write some of his more well known works during this time. Because of his close ties with Phi Beta (this and some other things), he was an honary member of Phi Beta Fraternity.
