Red face Loon Charged With Attempted Murder

Rapper Loon and two other men were arrested and charged with attempted murder after an incident outside the House of Blues in Los Angeles early Friday morning.

The men were held on $1 million bail after allegedly stabbing a security guard who refused them entry into a party for Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz. Loon (real name Chauncey Hawkins) subsequently posted bail and was released early Saturday morning (February 14).

According to the watch sergeant of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's West Hollywood station, where the men were booked, Hawkins and two friends, William Reyes and Teon Tanqueray, attempted to enter the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip at approximately 12:30 a.m. Friday morning. After they were refused entry, the men tried to rush the door, and in the ensuing altercation a security guard was stabbed in the chest multiple times. The unidentified guard was rushed to a nearby hospital where his injuries, considered non-life-threatening, were treated.

Investigators are still gathering evidence to determine which of the three men allegedly stabbed the security guard. The county district attorney's office will then determine when the men will be arraigned in court.

After being booked on felony attempted-murder charges, only Hawkins posted bail. He was released at 2:45 a.m. Saturday morning.

The promoters for the House of Blues party, Disco Sushi, were celebrating the release of Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz's adult DVD in a week when numerous hip-hop stars had descended on L.A., for last week's Grammy Awards and this weekend's NBA All-Star Game.

Loon released his self-titled debut on Bad Boy Records last year.
