All of my birthdays have been celebrated quietly other than 18 and 21. I'm slightly freaking because next month is 39 and I agree with JAM that the 9's are weirder because that next decade is really looming.
So far, I like each decade more. The great thing about getting older is that you get more and more comfortable and confident in your own skin. The 20's are best described as "turbulent" because you go through so many life changes. I graduated from college, got first REAL job, got married, got divorced, got married again, had first child.. holy cow what a busy busy time. The 30's are better, more stable. Even though I changed careers it didn't feel like a big deal. I have the resources and ability to live the life I want.
The thing that continues to amaze me is that I don't feel as old as I am (but I think I'm starting to look my age for the first time ever). The 40's will have some challenges as my kids will become teenagers, but by 49, my son will be away at college and the 50's become my "me" era, I think!
